‘My little star, you are, you are…

Goodnight, my little star’

I think my heart just melted into a lovely little puddle on the floor. This is quite possibly the most heartwarmingly beautiful picture book we’ve ever had the pleasure of holding in our hands.

This little beauty is the very best bed-time book. It will give both parent and child the warm and fuzzies – both will delight in sharing this together. The text rhymes and flows like a dream.

The illustrations are a truly magical treat and really the whole book is a complete joy!

The story takes us through each baby animal and it’s parent snuggling down for the night.… Read more >>>

blackbirdA Q&A with Anna Carey, author of Blackbird!

When a nameless girl wakes up on the subway tracks, she knows only one thing for sure: people want her dead. Can she find them before they track her down?

1) So many exhilarating (and often terrifying) moments that make us want to read Blackbird in one sitting! Do you plot out your action scenes before you write?

I write an outline before I start a first draft, so I have a sense of the book scene by scene, chapter by chapter. When writing action scenes, I love thinking about setting. What’s a scary place to be trapped with someone who is trying to kill you?… Read more >>>

On the Cover #51

,

On The Cover is a feature I am going to doing every now and again. I will pick one book cover that sticks out, is really interesting or just beautiful – I particularly like a book cover that has a stunning landscape.

I think the cover of a book is very important, it’s the first thing a person sees and some of the time it’s the reason why a person will pick a book up and read the back. I will just pick a book that catches my eye from throughout the week.

So come on Book Cover Lovers, share with me your favourite book covers.
