Summary from Go18525607odreads

brilliant, hilarious one-off novel in the Skulduggery Pleasant universe, from number-one-bestselling author Derek Landy

This time, the bad guys take the stage.

Tanith Low, now possessed by a remnant, recruits a gang of villains – many of whom will be familiar from previous Skulduggery adventures – in order to track down and steal the four God-Killer level weapons that could hurt Darquesse when she eventually emerges. Also on the trail of the weapons is a secret group of Sanctuary sorcerers, and doing his best to keep up and keep Tanith alive is one Mister Ghastly Bespoke.

When the villains around her are lying and scheming and plotting, Tanith needs to stay two steps ahead of her teammates and her enemies. After all, she’s got her own double-crosses to plan – and she’s a villain herself…

My Review

Why oh why have I not delved into this world before?! I’ve been seriously missing out! Why did nobody tell me just how awesome these characters were?

I’m new to the whole Skulduggery Pleasant world and was a little nervous just jumping in somewhere around the middle. I needn’t have worried, this wasn’t at all confusing and would also be a perfect standalone.

Tanith Low is a standout kick-ass character who is devilishly dark and dangerous! She now has a Remnant bonded to her, so she is firmly on the dark-side. She wants to steal the only weapons that can bring down, Darquesse, when she appears to bring around the end of the world. So, she brings a little team of monster mis-fits together to get the mission done.

The only problem is…they aren’t the only group seeking out the weapons!

Every single page was dripping with delicious humour. Funny, funny, funny – I loved that! The action was raging, the adventure and danger were totally ON!

Apart from the delightful humour my favourite thing had to be the characters! I loved them all, but if pushed I’d pick Saracren Rue – he has this easy swagger that I loved, plus he’s mysterious and knows things…. Another thing I enjoyed were the little snippets delving into Tanith’s past.

The ending is…perfect!

Tanith Low in the Maleficent Seven is one hell of a thrill ride filled with highly memorable characters and some fantastic action scenes. Derek Landy is a top-class writer who easily engages and thrills! I’ve now already bought the first Skulduggery Pleasant book and I’m ever so excited to dive back in!

4/5 Stars
