There’s a thin line between hero worship and dangerous obsession
A crisp winter morning in New York, in a luxury apartment, the body of a woman lies stretched out on a huge bed. On the wall above, the killer has left a message in bold black ink: FOR LIEUTENANT EVE DALLAS, WITH GREAT ADMIRATION AND UNDERSTANDING.
Eve Dallas is used to unwanted attention. Famous for her high-profile cases and her marriage to billionaire businessman Roarke, she has learned to deal with intense public scrutiny and media gossip. But now Eve has become the object of a singular and deadly obsession. She has an ‘admirer’, who just can’t stop thinking about her. Who is convinced they have a special bond. Who is planning to kill for her – again and again.
With time against her, Eve is forced to play a delicate – and dangerous – psychological dance. Because the killer is desperate for something Eve can never provide – approval. And once that becomes clear, Eve knows her own life will be at risk – along with those she cares about the most.

Wow! Can you believe this is the 40th book in a series? It’s still as fresh an exciting as ever. This instalment is a must for fans while also being a good starting point for anyone new to the series!
Eve Dallas is one hell of an interesting gal! She’s intelligent, down to earth and devilishly moreish! In this story we get to see little glimmers of her past rise again to the surface as the killer leaves her little mementos…well bodies of people who they deem to have done her a disservice or disrespect. I loved how vague everything was in places, giving you the bare bones of evidence and being able to actually watch Eve Dallas actually draw pieces of evidence together to paint a bigger picture – fascinating!
J.D. Robb toys with the reader, makes them sit on the edge and crave more details. I love how interesting the details became when drawn together and also watching everything come together with the help of Eve’s fantastic team. The characters and relationships are written to beautiful perfection and really can’t be faulted.
Admittedly…I haven’t finished this book but am only around 90 pages away from finally finding out (I didn’t want to let the blog tour stop down by not posting a review). I just can’t wait to see what happens. eeekk!
