The Potion Diaries by Amy Alward – Blog Tour Stop!

the potion dSummary from Goodreads

When the Princess of Nova accidentally poisons herself with a love potion meant for her crush, she falls crown-over-heels in love with her own reflection. Oops. A nationwide hunt is called to find the cure, with competitors travelling the world for the rarest ingredients, deep in magical forests and frozen tundras, facing death at every turn.

Enter Samantha Kemi – an ordinary girl with an extraordinary talent. Sam’s family were once the most respected alchemists in the kingdom, but they’ve fallen on hard times, and winning the hunt would save their reputation. But can Sam really compete with the dazzling powers of the ZoroAster megapharma company? Just how close is Sam willing to get to Zain Aster, her dashing former classmate and enemy, in the meantime?

And just to add to the pressure, this quest is ALL OVER social media. And the world news.

No big deal, then.

The Potion Diaries playlist

Music has always formed a big part of my writing process, and I tend to stick with the same playlist over and over again! This playlist is a mixture of songs that inspired me, and songs that I write to…

1) Black Magic by Little Mix

So this is a very recent track, but if you listen to the lyrics, it is very appropriate for The Potion Diaries!

2) Maps by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs

The book has a lot of travelling in it, so I love this song dedicated to one of my favourite things… maps.

3) Angels by the xx

This is just one of the most beautiful love songs, so I listen to it whenever I need to write a romantic scene.

4) No Sound But The Wind by Editors

Another haunting classic.

5) Aqueous Transmission by Incubus

This one is for whenever I need to zone out and write some beautiful description.

6) Dream Catch Me by Newton Faulkner

A bit more upbeat – for when I need to write the fun scenes.

7) Our Retired Explorer by The Weakerthans

Another track about explorers! This one is for scenes with Kirsty in it.
