10 Random Things about Anchored in the Bay

1. The wedding described in the book was based on my ceremony and reception held at the exact same spot eight years ago.

2. Originally, the main character had a scene stealing dog named Waffles. But the dog really did run off with the story and had to be cut. (She finds her way into the fourth book in this series, Across the Lake)

3. The male and female protagonists grew up together because their mothers were sorority sisters.

4. Despite spending every summer on the lake, Emily doesn’t know how to operate a boat and can barely paddle in a kayak.

5. The characters’ favorite meal is breakfast and if you visit the real restaurant mentioned in the story, The Egg Toss in Bayfield, Wisconsin, you’d understand completely.

6. The male protagonist was named after my late grandfather, Edwin.

7. The setting for this series exists in real-life, the Apostle Islands in Lake Superior. I was lucky enough to spend many summer vacations at my aunt and uncle’s home on Madeline Island. It’s (in my completely biased opinion) the best, most beautiful, most peaceful spot on earth.

8. This book was written simultaneously with the second in the series. But each novel (at the moment, four are published) can be read on its own.

9. I struggled with this ending because (spoiler alert) I wanted to give everyone a happy ending. You’ll have to keep reading to see how I manage that in the following books.

10. Ed’s best friend Eric is my favorite character in all of my books. He’s my book boyfriend.
