The prophecies were there but no one listened. Until now. They are the Lords of Deliverance and they have the power to usher in Doomsday . . . or prevent it.
His name is Ares, and the fate of mankind rests on his powerful shoulders. If he falls to the forces of evil, the world falls too. As one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, he is far stronger than any mortal, but even he cannot fight his destiny forever. Not when his own brother plots against him.
Yet there is one last hope. Gifted in a way other humans can’t – or won’t – understand, Cara Thornhart is the key to both this Horseman’s safety and his doom. But involving Cara will prove treacherous, even beyond the maddening, dangerous desire that seizes them the moment they meet. For staving off eternal darkness could have a staggering cost: Cara’s life.
There are four Lords of Deliverance, who have the power to either bring on Doomsday or prevent it! This story is about Ares ‘War’, if he is turned evil he seals the fate of the 2 other horsemen of the apocalypse and if they fall so will mankind. So the world really does rest upon Ares shoulders and with his evil brother out to get him, things won’t go down easy for this warrior!
Cara Thornhart is thrown into Ares world completely by accident, she has a supernatural talent that other people don’t get and she has spent her life trying to hide it. When Ares meets Cara he quickly finds out that she is his undoing, she could either save this horseman’s life or seal his fate and it really could go either way! The pair are drawn to each other from the off but with both their lives ultimately on the line can Ares fight his feelings and do what needs to be done? With an unexpected twist of fate will he even need to?
Well the ending is explosive, I was glued to those pages and I was very happy with the overall outcome. There were so many twists and turns that it was hard to know what way things were going to go. I am now hooked into this wonderfully imagined world Larissa Ione has created here and I am so glad I have the next book in the series to get started on straight away.
My favourite character:
