Bilbo's Last Song by J.R.R. Tolkien

My Review

Bilbo’s Last Song is such a wonderful book for little ones! Everyone knows of the fantastic works by J.R.R. Tolkien, but it’s hard to get twitchy little people to sit and listen to a novel! So this magical picture book is a brilliant introduction to Tolkien’s work! It is a song and story all in one, we journey to the west alongside Bilbo Baggins while he makes his final journey. He reflects upon his wild adventures traveling the same route the first time round – in The Hobbit! This is so beautifully illustrated by Pauline Baynes who has masterfully captured the 2 journeys on each page, so you can reflect back yourself!… Read more >>>

On The Cover #34

,

On The Cover is a feature I am going to do every(ish) Friday, Where I pick one book cover that sticks out, is really interesting or just beautiful. I think the cover of a book is very important, it’s the first thing a person sees and some of the time it’s the reason why a person will pick a book up and read the back. I will just pick a book that catches my eye from throughout the week.

So come on Book Cover Lovers, share with me your favourite book covers.

My Review

The best way to sum up When it Snows would be to say it’s truly magical! This is an extremely simplistic book but what makes it so special is the fantastic illustrations, that transport the reader to another magical world that is full of adventure and sparkle! There aren’t too many words but I think it’s not about how much is written but how powerful those little snip-its are. I think the length is just perfect for little ones who might not sit for more lengthy books. This really is a fabulous debut from Richard Collingridge that proves the point that stepping into a book can be pure magic!… Read more >>>
