Poison Princess (The Arcana Chronicles) by Kresley Cole

Summary from Goodreads

#1 New York Times bestselling author Kresley Cole introduces The Arcana Chronicles, post-apocalyptic tales filled with riveting action, the dark mysticism of Tarot cards, and breathtaking romance.

She could save the world—or destroy it.

Sixteen year old Evangeline “Evie” Greene leads a charmed life, until she begins experiencing horrifying hallucinations. When an apocalyptic event decimates her Louisiana hometown, Evie realizes her hallucinations were actually visions of the future—and they’re still happening. Fighting for her life and desperate for answers, she must turn to her wrong-side-of-the-bayou classmate: Jack Deveaux.

But she can’t do either alone.

With his mile-long rap sheet, wicked grin, and bad attitude, Jack is like no boy Evie has ever known. Even though he once scorned her and everything she represented, he agrees to protect Evie on her quest. She knows she can’t totally depend on Jack. If he ever cast that wicked grin her way, could she possibly resist him?

Who can Evie trust?

As Jack and Evie race to find the source of her visions, they meet others who have gotten the same call. An ancient prophesy is being played out, and Evie is not the only one with special powers. A group of twenty-two teens has been chosen to reenact the ultimate battle between good and evil. But it’s not always clear who is on which side….

Quickie Review
This is a bit of a hard review for me to write because I started Poison Princess then halfway through went into labour then I came out of hospital and slowly started reading it again – so it’s fair to say I got a little bit confused and it totally wasn’t the books fault, lol!
But I couldn’t let it go without writing a short review about how much of an awesome start to a new series this is! Kresley Cole is one of my favourite authors, her Immortals After Dark series is epic, so when I seen she was releasing a YA title I knew it had to go on my MUST read list!
Cole really as brought something unique to the table here and I think the storyline is unique, engaging, dark, dangerous and highly intriguing!  I adored the characters, but most of all super bad boy Jackson, who is simply hot with a capital H! Plus, who doesn’t love a bad boy, right?! Main character Evie is a great, in-depth character that is like-able, relate-able and down-to-earth!
To top it all off Kresley Cole’s writing style is on point and fabulous! This is definitely a book to get excited about and I really do think it is a must read. I really cannot wait to get my grubby paws on the next instalment in the Arcana Chronicles!
4/5 Stars!
