The Butterfly Tiara is the 3rd instalment in the series and the first book I have had the pleasure of reading, you really could pick up the series on any book. It has a fabulous little storyline, relate-able and likeable characters, lots of action and fun for any girly girl. The illustrations are a nice treat throughout the book and they sort of reminded me a bit of the Jacqueline Wilson books I would of read when I was younger.
Ava and her family have an exciting secret, they are blessed with the travelling gift. They can stand in front of the magical mirrors and be magically transported back in time. On this adventure Ava and her auntie Marietta are visiting a travelling circus. Ava picks out a really special trapeze outfit, that has a beautiful glittering butterfly tiara, that becomes even more sparkly when she puts it on.
When Ava and Marietta arrive at the circus, Ava meets Lexi (Lexi’s dad owns the circus). Ava comes across a really cute baby elephant, that is being forced to preform tricks. Ava feels sorry for the baby elephant, so Lexi and Ava do some detective work to try and find out where the elephant came from. They enlist the help of one of the performer’s and they make it their mission to try and return the baby elephant to it’s mummy.
The mission will be dangerous for the girls and they will have to act fast, before the nasty animal trainer finds out what they are up to.
The ending has an unexpected surprise that will put a big smile on your face. 🙂
