‘The moment of danger is close. Very soon our enemies will be here.’
As danger increases, the Spook sends his apprentice, Tom, to be trained by another spook whose methods are harsh and tough.
But faced with a powerful water witch, Tom’s new master makes a fatal mistake, leaving Tom to face his enemies alone.
Can the Spook get there in time to save Tom?
Together can they beat such terrible dark power?
And will the Spook’s own mistakes give final victory to the dark?
The fifth chilling tale in the Wardstone Chronicles, the series that inspired the forthcoming movie The Seventh Son, starring Jeff Bridges, Ben Barnes and Julianne Moore.
The Spook’s Mistake is the 5th awesome book in the Wardstone Chronicles and it was just as brilliant as the rest!
In this chilling adventure we see Tom travel to another spook for 6 months training. The other spook is a hard and mean man that Tom doesn’t hit it off with. He was very cruel to Tom and I was quite annoyed!
But the spook has dark secrets in his past that make him bitter and twisted. Something forces the spook to make a big mistake – leaving Tom to fend for himself against a very deadly water witch!
Joseph Delaney’s writing as always is on point and very awesome indeed. He manages to build upon his already rich and very complex world. We are introduced to more beings from the dark and they are very menacing creatures indeed.
We find out some big shockers in this book and I couldn’t quite believe my eyes. Mr Delaney picks his moments perfectly to blow your socks off!
Will the spook be able to get to Tom before its too late? There are quite a few dark players at work here, so the spook would need to be quick….
The ending leaves off so wonderfully for things to come in the next book, which I instantly picked up!
The Spook’s Mistake is a brilliant instalment that is full of mystery and intrigue, the characters are brilliant and Joseph Delaney writes superbly with just the right amount of emotion throughout!
4 / 5 Stars!
